Forest Management Plan Update

Were you aware the SPFGA has a registered forest management plan as part of the conservation agreement with the Nature Conservancy of Canada?
Our current plan is now more than 10 years old and needs to be updated. We need your ideas, concerns, and input to help us do that and ensure the stands on our properties stay healthy and vibrant for generation to come.
Organizational Objectives – Ratification Vote
The Strategic Planning Committee solicited feedback from the Board regarding updates to the Association’s current Objectives. The updated Objectives we are bringing forward for ratification are as follows:
The Objectives of the Association are:
- To promote through education and programs the conservation and wise use of fish and wildlife.
- To protect and enhance fish and wildlife habitat.
- To commit to the wise use and management of all natural resources.
- To lobby different levels of government to protect hunting, fishing, trapping, shooting, and other outdoor recreational activities.
- To own and operate a recreation and conservation area, as well as a shooting range facility, for the members, youth groups, and outdoor educational opportunities.
- To be affiliated with other organizations as the Association decides that increase the Association’s efficiency or effectiveness.
Bylaws – Ratification Vote
The Bylaw Review Committee soliciting feedback from the Board in 2020 and 2021 regarding our current bylaws and have updated them. These updated bylaws have been reviewed by a lawyer to ensure consistency with the Societies Act and we are bringing them forward for ratification. To help you with your review of the updated bylaws, we’ve also included a summary of the notable changes.
We will hold a Q&A session prior to each vote, so there will be an opportunity for you to ask questions. For the best use of time and to ensure we’re able to bring full answers to your questions, please submit them in advance prior to Oct 26 to info@spfga.ca.
