Birdhouse Orders
These nesting boxes (aka ‘birdhouses’) were featured in a two-part story, A big deal about birdhouses, which appeared in the Fall 2020 issue (p.15) and the Winter 2021 issue (p.15) of Range of Thoughts, our quarterly newsletter. A surprising number of members contacted us afterward, expressing interest in purchase these build kits for themselves. As a result of that interest, we’re taking pre-orders for kits.
We’ve presented basic information on each design, with an order form below. For more information, refer to the Range of Thoughts articles linked above.
We will be collecting orders until April 10. Build kits will be available for pickup between Tuesday, April 27 and Friday, April 30. You can choose to pick your build kit up at one of three locations (see below).
GOLONDRINAS
This is the nesting box design used by the Golondrinas Centers of the Americas. A March 2017 study conducted by the University of Saskatoon published in the journal Ecosphere demonstrated the superiority of this design.
BEAVERHILL
This is the nesting box design used by the Beaverhill Bird Observatory. Ornithologists at the Beaverhill Bird Observatory have internal data they feel demonstrates the superiority of this design.
